MATLAB: Am I unable to connect to xPC Target using a serial connection

It appears that I have successfully installed xPC Target, but I still cannot connect to my target PC using RS232

Note that I initially had to define an "Incoming Connection" in the host PC, and a "direct Connection" in the target PC for the two PCs to be successfully connected.

Delete the 'Incoming Connection' or 'Direct Connection' for the RS232 communication. The target PC automatically detects the RS232 port without need of the "direct connection".

To begin, use an unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cross-over cable with RJ45 connectors for direct connection between the host and target computers, and then use the following steps:

1) Enter the following command at the MATLAB command prompt on the host computer:

!ipconfig

2) Assign the target computer IP address to be 1 above the host PC IP address. For example, if IPCONFIG returns the IP address of "192.168.1.100", then enter an IP address of "192.168.1.101" for your target computer in the XPCSETUP GUI.

MATLAB: Xlsread requires internet connection

xlsread delegates all the hard work of opening/reading the file to Excel. So if xlsread reports that it failed to open the file, that is because Excel failed to open to file.

Excel normally does not require an internet connection. So if it fails to open a file because of that, check that:

the file you're trying to open is on the local machine
the excel file does not contain links to files on the network

But your problem is not with xlsread or matlab but with Excel or the file itself.
