[Math] draw a spade card given the first card is black

probability

Suppose two cards are dealt from a deck of $52$. What is the probability that the second card is a spade given that the first card is black?

I am thinking it may be $26/52 \times 4/25 = 104/1300$.

Best Answer

I think it's best to break it into two events. The probability that the second card is a spade given that the first card is a spade is 12/51. The probability that the second card is a spade given the first card is a club is 13/51. By the law of total probability the answer should be 1/2 (12/51) + 1/2 (13/51).
