QGIS 3 – Showing Field Names Instead of Aliases in Attribute Table

I have a file geodatabase table added to QGIS. How can I show field name, not alias in the attribute table? (Or delete the aliases)

In ArcMap I can set it in Layer Properties

The name, set in ArcGIS is F20, QGIS displays the alias "20":

Open "Layer Properties -> Attribute Form"
Delete aliases.

This works just in the project and doesn't change the layer source.

Not all layer properties are accessible through the Layer object. There are many properties available in the ArcMap Layer Properties dialog box that are not exposed to the arcpy scripting environment (e.g., scale ranges, display properties, field aliases, symbology, and so on). The UpdateLayer function allows you to replace all layer properties available in ArcMap's Layer Properties dialog box using a layer (.lyr) file that contains the customizations.

It specifically references field aliases and the Layer Properties dialog.

Instead of iterating over the whole list returned by ListLayers, pass in the wildcard parameter using your layer name and just process the first item, e.g.

import arcpy
mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument("CURRENT")
lyr = arcpy.mapping.ListLayers(mxd, "layer_name")[0]
desc = arcpy.Describe(lyr)
print lyr.name
fields =  desc.fields
for field in fields:
    print field.aliasName
