In ArcMap 10 table view, is there a way to set up a hotkey that when a feature is selected, pressing say "z" is equivalent to right-click–>Zoom To?
I would like to be able to highlight a record and just press "z" to zoom to the feature, "p" to pan to the feature and keep the same zoom, etc. It seems simple enough, but I cannot seem to find a place to set up this function.
Am I missing something simple? I just want to replicate the function shown below without the 2 additional mouse clicks.
If your goal is simply copying a geodatabase with (most?) everything intact, you could use Copy_management to copy it to a file geodatabase, which you could then zip up using the Python zipfile module. There are also geoprocessing tools for geodatabase replication but I am not sure if address locators are included.
I am not aware of a way to list address locators with arcpy. You could suggest it on ArcGIS Ideas.
The last possibility I would suggest -- and this is definitely in the "any other way" category due to its complexity -- is to export the geodatabase to an ESRI XML Workspace document and parse it with Python's ElementTree XML API or lxml.
Currently there is no built-in way in arcpy to export an XML workspace document -- that's supposedly coming in 10.1 according to this ArcGIS Ideas post. However, you could write an ArcObjects command line application (like this one) and call it from Python using the subprocess module. Again I am not sure if things like address locators are included in the XML output though.
As a supplement to Brad's answer, there is no setting or option to accomplish this automatically. That being said if this is just a one time operation it can be accomplished in two clicks. Once you have your selection:
Right click the layer in the TOC navigate to the 'Selection' menu and click 'Create Layer From Selected Features'.
This will create a layer of the selected features that will by default show at all scales, while your original layer will maintain its symbol levels.

There are preset shortcuts, but I don't now how to change them. For Zoom To Selected Feature, the hotkey is [CTRL] + [SHIFT] + [=]
