I'm looking for a way to handle spatial data (for instance geography data type in SQL Server 2008) in Visual Studio Lightswitch 2011.
Preferably with an extension that can show data on a map. So far the only extension I have found is the one from NetAdvantage.
Is there alternatives to this extension? Are there (open source) projects addressing this problem?
They show up for me in VS2010, but only when I choose the .NET 3.5 framework in the dropdown listbox.

I've used it to connect to non-ArcSDE SQL Server 2008 databases.
You get to it from the file menu:
And there is a couple of other screens that walk you through defining what ArcMap needs to know to make the query layer.
(Be sure that your query includes a geometry field and a unique id field)
You'll want to test it out, since I know it was buggy at release and SP1.
