I created custom symbols on my PC at home using:
Layer Properties dialog box > Symbology tab > Advanced > Rotation
Now I want to transfer the symbology settings to another machine on campus.
How can I do this?
I can't locate a file which contains the setting.
It's a slight fudge but try setting Width and Height on the Override default patch size part of the Legend Item properties to be very small but not zero i.e. 0.001. In my test it looks like the patch is either not there at all, or is too small to see. If you set to 0 then patches return to original size.
Just open the Legend Properties, click the General tab, select the layer(s) you want to remove from the legend under Legend Items (you can use Ctrl to select several layers at once) and click the double leftward arrow button, see picture below:
If you only have about 32 layers, it will probably be faster than writing a Python script and define which layers should be kept and which should be removed from the legend.

You could save the layer out as a layer file (this doesn't store data):

And then import that layer file as symbology:
Import symbology
Or, if you want the data, and symbology included in one package, you could save the symbolized layer as a layer package. This would probably be the easiest and best solution.

After you create the layer package, you just open it on the new computer and it will add the data and symbology you created.
