[GIS] Stack Builder not finding spatial extentions for Postgre 10 when installing PostGIS

I've never set up a development environment on Windows before.

I followed this guide which is for PostgreSQL 9, but nevertheless. PostGIS is supposed to be installable through Stack Builder, but Stack Builder 4 does not show any Spatial Extensions. I can't find any stand-alone bundles for PostGIS, nor anybody that has the same problem.

When I throw SELECT AddGeometryColumn('testtable', 'g', 3036, 'POINT', 2) at my postgre-server it tells me that addgeometrycolumn() cannot be found, so I assume that PostGIS is missing.

Any hints as to where to start with this one?

nJGL yah sorry the folks that manage the Stackbuilder stuff are on vacation I was told. So issue is still there. I did upload the exes to Stackbuilder so as soon as the issue is fixed they would show up there.

The stackbuilder will just give you the same installer files you'll find here.

I haven't packaged pg10 32-bit since I'm having issue with the pointcloud build, hopefully you don't need that. If you need the 32-bit just use the binaries.

Your first query is using an index just not the spatial one. See the Index Scan using geoplanet_place_pkey. So it's more efficient for it to use the id key since you are doing an ORDER by the column and your spatial filter covers the whole table.

The spatial index is not used because your ST_Expand is too big. You have a geometry but its in long lat. The expand units are therefore in long lat. My god I can't fathom how big 16093.44 degrees is. that would cover your whole table and then some so therefore the index is useless and Postgres is smart enough to realize that.

If you are going to do this use geography data type and then your 16093.44 would be in meters and valid and you wouldn't need that ST_Spheriod call.

since the ST_Dwithin geograpy call would take care of everything.

e.g.

and then instead of ST_GeomFromText use ST_GeogFromText

I'm not sure if the Stack Builder is honouring the system proxy settings ... and to make life more difficult, we have an authenticating proxy.

I got around the issue by using Fiddler

Run Fiddler, then on the menu Rules, enable Automatically Authenticate

Run the Stack Builder, and set its Proxy to localhost and port 8888. Do this for both HTTP and FTP (the list is retrieved using HTTP, but the packages come over FTP)
