[GIS] Remove slivers from merged polygons

I am creating a single polygon by merging different polygons in ArcMap. When I merge them, slivers are created. So I have to delete those slivers manually. I don't have a license for ArcInfo so tools like Eliminate and others are not working.

Are there any other options for removing slivers all at once in ArcMap?

I am working on ArcGIS 10.

I think the Integrate tool from the Data Management toolbox should solve this - you can set a tolerance and it will align and remove any slivers from two polygons. ArcGIS Integrate tool help

If your polygons are slivers the eliminate command works well to merge them into either the larger area polygon or the longest edge.

If the polygons are overlaps then there may be an easier way, but I would select out the overlaps to a separate layer, then union them back in, creating the slivers and using the eliminate command.

Ok I found an answer:

You can avoid to get rounded corner by adding the parameter 'join=mitre' to st_buffer:

So it work perfectly fine with:

SELECT st_buffer(st_buffer(geom,1,'join=mitre'),-1,'join=mitre') FROM mygeotable;

EDIT

If the buffer is too large st_buffer(geom,10,'join=mitre') produce from time to time some strange results (the polygones become spiky). So to avoid this effect it's safer to preserve the old boundary with st_intersection:

SELECT st_intersection(st_buffer(st_buffer(geom,-1,'join=mitre'),1,'join=mitre'),geom) FROM mygeotable;
