Is there any symbology set out there for sewer systems or other piped networks? The sort of elements I need to represent are:
There are few sets for transport systems in the public domain, but I am yet to find one for this kind of networks.
Most of the sewer pipes I've seen have the directional arrow at the end of the line, but I had users that wanted the directional arrows along the entire line, at a reasonable interval.
It was a 2-layer symbol, with a cartograhic line, and then a Marker line symbol with an interval of 13.
Also, I just used 2 different feature layers of the same featureclass: 1 with the arrows and 1 without (sometimes I would tie each to different a scale range).
here's the symbol on a 9.3 layer (don't have time to sort out a style file). You should be able to add it, set the data source and go from there to tweak the symbol.
The symbols angle follows the line direction. If the polygons were digitized in a clockwise direction, the 1/2 circle symbols would be inside. If digitized counter-clockwise, they are outside.
To fix this, you must fix the digitization direction. You can either do this on the polygons themselves, or just when styling them.
Before rendering the polygon boundaries, use a geometry generator to properly set the line directions, using the expression force_rhr($geometry)

I have been searching within the Noun Project open source icon library and found some useful images. Some of these may work better than others when resized for mapping. They are all under a Creative Commons licence.
