I would like to synchronize my QGIS map with the printing layout map.
According to the tutorial here:

I can refresh my map by clicking the "Refresh" symbol.
Unfortunately, despite the command "Refreshing map" appearing at the very bottom when clicking the icon, the map remains exactly the same as it was embedded initially.
Is it possible to sync the QGIS map canvas with the map provided in the print layout?
Deactivate the Render checkbox at the bottom right of the QGIS main window:
You can also try Menu Settings / Options / Rendering and increase Map update interval (250 ms by default).
Try deactivating the checkbox Live update at the bottom of the layer panel as well.
You mean to insert text inside a shape, as in Office Word. It is not possible to include a text content for layout shapes because they don't have any property for text.
Eventually you will need to use auxiliary items (separate textbox) or you can add a font symbol layer for the shape as follows:
Click "Style" box.
Add a new symbol layer. Select "Centroid Fill".
Change "Simple Marker" to "Font Marker".
Set "Size" and "Characters"

Before hitting refresh, you need to click the button to the right of it, which is "Set Map Extent to Match Main Canvas Extent".
This will set the zoom and extent of the map to match your main canvas.
