[GIS] Opening an modis hdf file in Envi and Calibration

I have downloaded an modis hdf file.it is l1 and its name is MOD021KM ..I want to convert it to radiance.so I performed this steps in envi

Open>EOS>MODIS
selected modis hdf file.then I tried to run Radiometric Calibration but when I select the image it says image must have gain and offset for each band.I tried to opent image from open>generic format>hdf but there is not any hdf format there.

Anyway.I think envi does not recognize gains and offsets.I have checked metadata of opened file and the table of gains and offsets is empty.

I am using Envi 5.1

Can you please help me to fix this problem?

You should use MCTK to convert MOD021KM data to radiance. MCTK is a plugin in ENVI and can also be used in IDL. This tool can be downloaded from MCTK

If you have access to ENVI, there is a a "MODIS conversion toolkit" available for free from their user scripts website.

It will reproject any way you would like as well as destripe and calculate radiance

HDF4 support is not available in GDAL by default. If you're using the GDAL binaries and python libraries from GISInternals, these do not have HDF4 support compiled in (at the time this answer was originally posted in July 2013, however HDF4 support was added to the GISInternal GDAL build in Nov. 2013). HDF4 support is compiled in the OSGeo4W GDAL binaries.

You can test if you have HDF4 support with the gdalinfo command: gdalinfo --format hdf4

You can also batch the MRT from within your python script using the subprocess module, see the "Command Line Interface" section of the MRT User Manual.
