ArcMap – Iterating Through Bands of Raster Using ArcMap ModelBuilder

I have a large number of rasters with 3 bands (R,G,B). What I want to do is add all 3 bands of each raster together to end up with a single band image with the summed R,G,B values in each pixel but I'm not sure how to do this in ModelBuilder. Do I have to somehow split each raster first, then add each one?

How would I iterate through each band of every raster?

Edit:Basically this is what I have so far. Right now it will take 3 bands of 1 raster and add the bands then go on to create a polygon of a certain reclassed area. I want to do this on a large number of rasters but am unsure of how to make it work.

Tools used.

Iterate Rasters - Picks up all the rasters in a given workspace
Parse Path - Set Parse Type to PATH and FILE
Calculate Value - Calculates Full Path to Raster Band. Set Data Type as Raster Band. For Band 3 - the expression would be something like this "%path%"+"\%FILE%"+"\Band_3"
Composite Bands - Pulls out individual Bands using paths from Calculate value
Cell Statistics - Add the Bands together - Set Overlay Statistic to SUM
Add the rest of your processing steps

If you try to output the iterate raster tool directly into raster calculator, you will only see the last iteration in the raster calculator layers and variables list. To get around this nuisance in model builder, use Collect Values to generate a list that you can pass off to Cell Statistics to do your calculations. Simply choose the "MEAN" overlay statistic and you will have your average grid calculations. You can always bring this average grid up in raster calculator if you need to make further calculations.

You'll probably want to use Make Feature Layer, upon which you can use SQL to restrict the features selected. Select Layer by Attributes is another tool which you might find useful if you want to remove certain records.

Select layer by Attributes can't be run on a feature class, so there actually is no need to use it (if you can write an advanced SQL query to do everything you want) as you would need to use Make Feature Layer first on the input.

Edit: The SQL statement for either would be something like below, where x,y,z are values you want to include (if you wanted exclusion, just put NOT after the field name). You can then use Copy Features and set that as input for iterate feature selection.

"DESCRIPTN" IN (x,y,z)
