[GIS] how to create custom widget in mapguide fusion template

I am using mapguide maestro 5.0.1. I want to add custom fusion widget which have option to search layer in multiple ways. I am not able to find any tutorial to add custom widget useful. can you please suggest any tutorial which explain everything in detail. I have working module of this option in ajaxviewer can I use it in fusion.

Sorry for the short answer here, but it should get you started at least:

Check out the current widgets in fusion/widgets directory. Go through some or most of them and you'll get the hang of the pattern
Add the widget in via maestro or in your fusion layout js file. Again, look at the current default layout file for samples (or even the Autodesk basic demo ones). Basically, you load the widget class, then create interface buttons use JXLib and place it on the interface.

Might be a bit late on this one but perhaps you are required to pass a MgResourceIdentifier to UpdateFeatures ?

$featureService->UpdateFeatures($featureSourceId, $commands, false);

might require changing to

$featureResSourceId = new MgResourceIdentifier($featureResSourceId);
$featureService->UpdateFeatures($featureResSourceId, $commands, false);

Don't forget that this will change your library dataset it may be read only depending on the current logged on user.

Is dynamically generating Choropleth maps a solved problem?

No. The in-browser examples you point to use simplified shapes for the world's countries. This fits into most browser's processing and memory constraints. If you were to make a choropleth of, for instance, census blocks, every browser would crash. The geographic data matters.

There's no standard approach; there are many, many tools to do this. Tiles if you need a ton of places, vectors if you need a few and they are simple. The 'joining with data' problem is very unsolved because data equates to a thousand formats and schemas.
