[GIS] Hide layers by default on CartoDB visualization

I'm loading a CartoDB visualization and I want all layers to be switched off as the default setting, so users have to switch them on using the layer selector loaded with the visualization.

I'm reallly new on leaflet and cartodbjs so not sure where to begin to dive in the code. I think is related with this question but it doesn't have any answer.

find attached some example code. You can access the layers/sublayers through the javascript API layer[0] is the basemap and layer1 is the main layer with your two sublayers.

Anyway I recommend you creating this visualization with CreateLayer as when hiding the sublayers the toggle layers controls won't update.

The code you report seems correct. Assuming that a field called data_id exists in my_file, you should also update the CartoDB user and the layer id in the main() function:

function main() {
        cartodb.createVis('map', 'http://pattyjula.cartodb.com/api/v2/viz/layer-id-goes-here/viz.json', {
          // etc.
        })
    // etc.
  }

EDIT
Because data_id is of String type, its values have to be quoted:

    <li data="'PED2013'">Pedestrian 2013</li>
    <li data="'PED2012'">Pedestrian 2012</li>
    <li data="'BIKE2013'">Bike 2013</li>

in order to execute this query successfully:

query = 'select * from all_collisions where data_id = ' + data_id;

Tested and it works.

You can specify some flags in the URL to get the view you want.

The example below centers on [lat,long] = [34,-122] with zoom equal to 5.
