[GIS] DotSpatial Plugins for Measure, attributes, and query

I want the end product user to open the attributes, measure task and query the shapefile data using the DotSpatial library in C#.

I have dll with me but when I create the folder in solution and add the dll it doesn't show any change in the output.

You'll want to include DotSpatial.Plugins.Measure, and DotSpatial.Plugins.AttributeDataExplorer, both of which can be found in the Extension Manager. (See Finding and Installing the WebMap Extension for help with plugins.)

The former adds a measure tool, and the latter lets you view and filter attributes.

The AO-API has got an example. This would mean that you would have to extent your code by the following lines:

IFeatureDataset featureDataset = featureWorkspace.OpenFeatureQuery("MyJoin", queryDef);
IFeatureClassContainer featureClassContainer = (IFeatureClassContainer)featureDataset;
IFeatureClass featureClass = featureClassContainer.get_ClassByName("MyJoin");

And just assign that feture class to a feature layer. Assuming you really want to create a new shapefile in the filesystem, you can export the created feature class with a geoprocessor like FeatureClassToShapefile.

Not sure there are many projects out there that use it other than MapWindow - who are also the creators of DotSpatial.

If you look at the source for the GDALHelper class, you can see exactly why errors are thrown:

if (systemPath == null) throw new GdalException("Cannot get the environment path variable");

Are any of these the errors you encounter? It looks like it needs all the GDAL DLLs in subfolders of the DotSpatial project, and also needs to access the PATH Windows environment variable.

If you already have another version of GDAL that could cause problems.
