[Tex/LaTex] Transferring Lyx Keyboard Shortcuts

I recently updated my version of Lyx from 1.6.7 to 2.0.6. I would like to transfer my old keyboard shortcuts to this new version, but I am having difficulty because I was inconsistent with the way that I set them up:

Some were defined in the specified .bind file,
but others were modified in the lyx preferences menu.

I found that when importing my old .bind file into this updated version of lyx, it imported the keyboard shortcuts that were in the .bind file, but not those that I had added in the preferences menu.

Does anyone know if these keyboard shortcuts that were added via the preferences menu are stored in another .bind file somewhere in the lyx directory? Has anyone else successfully transferred keyboard shortcuts that had been implimented in the preferences menu?

On my system a .bind file was created in the user folder of LyX. You can find out where this folder is located by choosing Help --> About LyX, where the path to the User directory is given.

Here (in Kubuntu) the folder is located in ~/.lyx, and there is a file called user.bind in ~/.lyx/bind/.

You can get support for compiling with pdfTeX and IvriTeX Hebrew fonts by using install-tl-ubuntu. Just run the following command:

sudo ./install-tl-ubuntu --hebrew

Before you do that, you should remove whichever LaTeX installation you currently have (by default it installs a full TeX Live 2013 distribution). See ./install-tl-ubuntu --help for more information.

If you would like to compile with XeTeX, there is no need for any of this. Just to test that it works (the choice of fonts is not correct and probably ugly for Hebrew but you can use any fonts):

In Document > Settings > Fonts, check the box "Use non-TeX fonts" and change the three fonts to FreeSans (or any other font that supports Hebrew).
Click OK.
Try to export with XeTeX.

Better Hebrew fonts can be found in the ubuntu packages culmus and culmus-fancy.

I do not know how the custom .bind files work on Mac, so I can offer no insights about that.

However, seeing that the shortcut you want to define begins with Ctrl + f, your problem might have arisen due to a binding conflict. On Ubuntu, for example, Ctrl + f is by default bound to dialog-show findreplace. I've heard rumors that on Mac it is bound char-forward ;)

You can check whether the initial segment of your shortcut is already used by going to Tools > Preferences > Editing > Shortcuts and there search for ctrl+f (or whatever other shortcut you have problems getting to work).

If the initial segment is bound to something, then either choose a different shortcut, or remove the default binding.
