[Tex/LaTex] tilde over a symbol Phi

Please suggest me a way to put tilde over a symbol phi.
I can easily put it over a letter but coming to the case of symbols, it is giving problems.

Does \widetilde{\phi} work for you?

If you enter this in http://www.codecogs.com/latex/eqneditor.php, it produces a nice Phi with Tilde.

The undertilde package provides extensible tilde accents under elements in math mode via \utilde{<symbols>}. Try, for example:

Alternatively, as @egreg suggests, the accents package provides \underaccent[<accent>]{<symbol>}. Try, for example:

This is $\underaccent{\tilde}{\mathcal{A}}$ and so on.
\end{document}

See page 2 of the package documentation in order to extend this using \widetilde rather than \tilde. It depends on your preference.
