Even after updating to R20 in the PDF section, TeXnicCenter is not opening Acrobat Reader. I'm using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version 2020.013.20074. The old trick does not seem to work.

This is a rather 'hopeful' reading of the article by Jérôme Laurens. He points out that Adobe Reader does not and will not have SyncTeX built in, and uses this as a led-in to why a command line SyncTeX interface is useful. I'd take it as not more than a throw-away line to set context. Moreover, as this would at best work for forward search but not allow inverse search (PDF to .tex), it would not be that useful anyway.

I use Adobe Reader 11 (free version) and my settings are as follows. The red rectangles are used to highlight the important parts. If you use version 10, simply change the number 11 to 10.
Note: Since I have added Adobe Reader 11 path to my system variable, I don't need to specify the full path in "Path of executable" section on the dialog box above.

I have the Acrobat Pro DC version 21 (not acrobat reader). In order to find the version of the server I looked at the following registry entry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Classes\acrobat\shell\open\ddeexec\application
In my case I found that the server was AcroViewA21. Also in my case the executable that I was calling was the "Acrobat.exe", and not the "AcroRd32.exe".
It worked perfectly.
