I am using the MiKTeX + WinEdt for my texing, and every time after click 'texify' WinEdt will automatically open the DVI file for me to preview. Then I usually edit the .tex file and compile again. The thing is, after I am done editing and want to 'texify' + 'preview' the new file, the old DVI window from Yap is no longer useful to me. Instead of manually close it every time, I'd like to configure WinEdt so it will automatically close the current DVI window before open a new one for me. I think this should be pretty simple for some TeX gurus, any help please?

I have to mention that so far there is no solution for conventional PDF viewers such as Adobe Acrobat Reader and Foxit Reader. However, as @Bernard mentioned, by installing SumatraPDF and setting the PDF viewer setting in the WinEdt:
Execution Modes > PDF Viewer > "C:\Users\NKN\Documents\SumatraPDF-3.1.1\SumatraPDF.exe"
now the system reopens and updates the PDF even if it was already open.
As a final point, although this question was posted in 2014, the problem still remains (in 2017) even with newer versions of WinEdt (9.1/10), Foxit Reader, and Adobe Reader.
First of all, to enable forward/inverse search between WinEdt and your DVI previewer, you must be sure that the compiler is generating source specials.
In WinEdt, take a look at the status bar and see if there is a panel containing --src. If not, click on that panel (see the image below) to enable source specials.
Regarding the DVI previewer, latest versions of dviout (DVI previewer bundled with TeX Live) automatically recognise WinEdt when you double-click on the dvi output (if dviout was launched by WinEdt).
If, instead, you are using Yap (DVI previewer bundled with MiKTeX) you might need to configure it to interact with WinEdt.
In Yap, go to "View" -> "Options" -> "Inverse DVI Search" panel and you should see that WinEdt is already auto-detected. Simply click on "WinEdt (auto-detected)" and then "OK".
