[Tex/LaTex] How to type Eastern Arabic Numerals

Is there any easy way to type Eastern Arabic Numerals in TeX? I mean these numbers: (٠‎ ١‎ ٢‎ ٣‎ ٤‎ ٥‎ ٦‎ ٧‎ ٨‎ ٩‎). Please note that I don't want to change the localization settings of my computer to non-US languages. I use US keyboard with US-English localization and need to type eastern Arabic numbers easily.

If you don't have extensive arabic text, you can use:

A \label to some counter like subsection is normally constructed as \p@subsection\thesubsection . In most cases the "prefix" command \p@... doesn't typeset anything and thus the result is the same what is produced by \the.... Such "prefix" commands are only used by the standard classes to construct references like 1.a in enumerations when the items there are labeled 1 and the subitem a.

The revtex4.cls however is using the \p@...commands also for heading counters:

\def\thesection       {\Roman{section}}
\def\p@section        {}
\def\thesubsection    {\Alph{subsection}}
\def\p@subsection     {\thesection\,}
\def\thesubsubsection {\arabic{subsubsection}}
\def\p@subsubsection  {\thesection\,\thesubsection\,}

So if you change \thesubsection as you did you end up with the following:

\thesection\,\thesection.\arabic{subsection}

In other words you need to also change all the corresponding \p@...commands to expand to nothing. I the document preamble place:

\makeatletter
\def\p@subsection{}
\makeatother

The external reference to a document using xr should be the same as you get from a reference within the document (it just reads the value from the aux file.

\ref does not use \labelenumi at all that just affects the label used in the list display. For the first level list it uses \theenumi and for second level list it uses \p@enumii\theenumii.

You were missing a \makeatletter and and had the prefix including enumii twice, your MWE can not be run as it uses a local class but you see the same with book class.
