I ran Miktex Net Installer, chose Download Miktex
then clicked Next, chose complete and then the following popped up
I have not been able to fix this up to now, so I cannot use Net Installer.
Can anyone help?

MiKTeX and TeXnicCenter are two different things. The former is a distribution of TeX that includes a bunch of packages as well as the executables latex.exe, pdflatex.exe, tex.exe, etc. The latter is an editor that provides a front end to the distribution. You should point TeXnicCenter to where you installed MiKTeX, not TeXnicCenter itself.
On my machine, running TeXnicCenter on Windows 7 with TeX Live 2011 (yet another distribution of TeX), my setup looks like this:
These building profiles (I have a bunch of them, as you can see from the list on the left) are set up when you first start TeXnicCenter. The "Path to the (La)TeX compiler" is the location of latex.exe on your machine. Depending on where you installed MiKTeX, that's where latex.exe resides. I'm guessing it would be somewhere in:
C:\Program Files\MiKTeX\2.9\bin\
or
C:\Program Files (x86)\MiKTeX\2.9\bin\
depending on whether you installed a 64-bit version of 2.9.
Edit: I may be wrong in my path assumption above. @doncherry has pointed out that this may in fact be
C:\Program Files (x86)\MiKTeX 2.9\miktex\bin\
Goes to show the installation structure of different installation may be noticeably different.
There are several errors here.
First: a path for windows 64 bit has to look like c:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.9\doc\bibtex\apalike\apalike.doc and not yours path="C/program Files/MiKTeX 2.9\doc/bibitex/apalike/apalike.doc. you missed : and mixed \ and /.
In LaTeX it could be that the path is printed with the linux path delimiter /. But if there is a mixing of both, that is an error, usually caused by manual typing an path ...
Second: where does your cited bibitex comes from? I guess a typo? I corrected it above to bibtex ...
Third: You did not tell which MiKTeX version you installed. Please add this information to your question.
Because there are some informations missing, I can only guess. Please proof and report the result.
For me it seems you used a wrong typed path inserted for the MiKTeX installer.
Check the resulting installation log file and report the result.

In my case I could fix the problem using a different wi-fi connection instead of the wire internet of my university, something related with a proxy. Then a list of servers appears and you click one of them (I chose the first one). Now I'm downloading the complete installation. Hope finally my errors with MikTex and Texmaker be solved.
