The appearance of the MATLAB Command Window is similar when using the loose and compact formats. In both cases, the appearance is like using FORMAT LOOSE, because there are extra spaces and line feeds in the displayed output. FORMAT COMPACT should reduce line-feed characters, so more output is seen onscreen.
