MATLAB: How to count each element in array

in my case, i have an array enveloped in for loop

for i = 1:6
array = [0.5 1 5 2 7 3]
end

now i want to show the result of sum in array element (ex: 0.5 + 1 on first iteration, then 1.5(result of previous iteration) + 5 and so on)

the code that i already try is :

array(i) = array(i) + array(i-1)

but i can't get the result. i already tried with temp, but the problem persists.

Are you just interested in this?

array = [0.5 1 5 2 7 3];
sum=cumsum(array)

If you just want add two neighbouring terms, this should work:

sum= array(1:end-1)+array(2:end)

which basically adds an element with previous one.

for you case, I understand that you want the maximum absolute difference being below a limit?

In that case, the "stay in" condition is:

while max(abs(A-B), [], 'all') > you_limit
   ... 
end

the option on the max function is to ensure that you return 1 maximum whatever size have A and B.

Here is a version that is certainly shorter, and produces the same result, but I doubt it is any more efficient. The benefit I see to this version is that you can change the pattern more easily, and you don't have quite the same amount of redundant checks for whether the current value is 1.

pattern = [-1 4 -2 -3];
i = 1;
v = 15;
while v ~= 1
    array(i) = v;
    v = v + pattern(mod(i-1,numel(pattern))+1);
    i = i + 1;
end
array(i) = v;
disp(array)
